Recruiting for SOUPer Bowl V
It’s time to take the field and show the community what your team can do! We’re calling on local businesses, restaurants, churches, groups, and organizations to enter the lineup and compete in this year’s SOUPer Bowl. Do you have a soup that can control the field and dominate the scoreboard? Rally your crew, tighten your game plan, and get ready to take the snap in front of a hungry crowd. To enter your soup, apply below.
Entry deadline: January 30.
Cooking rules: Contestants must prepare their soup at their location and provide about a gallon of soup for the contest (the past Souper Bowl competitions have had 100-125 people in attendance). Please bring serving utensils and any condiments/toppings you may need. We will provide 2oz cups, napkins, spoons, and trays. Contestants are welcome to bring marketing materials, tablecloths, etc.
It is free to enter the competition. Public fee for the tasting is $5 per person. Your table and cups will have a number associated with your soup to make judging easier for the “spectators”.
Bragging rights will be given for MVP (Most Valuable Pot) for Hearty Meat and Vegetarian. You may enter up to two soups, but they must be in the different categories. Referees Brian Puffer and Ashlee Howes of Saline Community Education will award Offensive Line (Heartiest/Most Filling), Rookie of the Year (Best Newcomer), and Halftime Showstopper (best presentation).
Things to note, please:
-
Specify what the name of your soup is and which category it is in.
-
Arrive at Saline Area Senior Center by 10:30am as the tasting will start at 11am.
-
If you have an extra extension cord or power strip on hand, please bring them. We do have a few extra cords and power strips, but it may come in handy to have your own. Please make sure your soup is hot!
-
You will have half of our 6 foot tables, sharing with another contestant, unless you enter two soups
-
Bring gloves to wear.
-
Feel free to bring marketing materials.
