CareYaya

CareYaya is unique in that it connects families and their loved ones with pre-health students at the University of Michigan (and top colleges across the country like Duke and Northwestern) to provide non-medical care such as meal preparation, cleaning, errands and companionship. 

CareYaya offers:
The lowest rates in the region ($15/hour)
No minimum commitments or hours
Can provide care in homes or assisted living and nursing homes
Site is free to use (funded by health care systems, insurance companies, etc.).

The Washtenaw Support Network for Caregivers is a new program to support informal/family caregivers of older adults (age 60+; the caregiver can be an adult of any age). They are offering a variety of services, all at no cost to the caregivers. 

 

Program offerings include:

  • Social outings to give caregivers a chance to relax and connect

  • Educational programs on topics related to caregiving

  • Respite care during caregiver activities

  • Individualized care-planning consultations

  • Home chore and handyman services
